Having recently repainted the church after all of its exterior leaks were fixed, we have been particularly attentive to any return trouble. Some appeared to be coming again from our roof gutters, which fill up very quickly with debris from the hickory tree between the rectory and the church. They have just been cleaned again this year, even though this had been done the year before.
The tree's branches overhung and rested upon both the church and the rectory, an untenable position. To trim away all of the branches that were resting upon the two buildings would have left very little of the tree, so the decision was made to remove it. In Kansas it's always hard to say goodbye to a tree, but this was costing us too much to keep!
