Saint Joseph Parish announces a charitable drive to fund a memorial to the late Sister Noella Blick, a Sister of the Adorers of the Precious Blood, who served as principal of Saint Joseph Catholic School for twenty-two years, from 1981 to 2003.
Sister Noella died on the Feast of the Transfiguration, Sunday, August 6th, 2023. She was not even ill when she asked for the last rites of the Church on the preceding Friday. She died peacefully, having been attended by her sisters in religious life.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the school's endowment fund, which would place Sister Noella's name among the "Visionaries" of the fund. She certainly was that for the many students and parishioners, whom she touched in her decades of service to the parish and school.
The Saint Joseph School Endowment Fund contributes more than $6000.00 monthly to the operating costs of the school. Indeed, without it, the school would not even be in existence today, much less be the thriving institution that it is. More than any physical object, a memorial in the fund would continue the good work that Sister Noella did when she was among us.
The goal is admittedly high, but it could be met with only 100 former students contributing $100 each. The plaque itself would name only Sister Noella, but contributors to the fund, unless they request anonymity, would be published to the parish.
To contribute to the fund, mail your donation to St. Joseph Church, 214 N. Main Street, Ellinwood, KS 67526. Mark it as a donation to the Sister Noella Endowment Memorial. All money contributed will go directly to the fund.
