Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word has begun for a new season at Immaculate Conception Parish. It was suspended over the summer.  This is a program where toddlers leave Mass after the opening prayer and return in time for the liturgy of the Eucharist.  Volunteers typically take them to the basement where they engage in a craft activity focused upon the readings of the day.

Father Klein calls the children forward and hands one of them a book with the day's gospel, written at a level suitable for children.  It will be read to the children when they gather.

He then blesses the departing students, saying "May the Lord open your ears and your hearts to hear the Word of God."  As the children process out, the cantor leads the congregations in singing, "Take the Word of God with you as you go.  Take the Word of God and make it grow!

Numbers vary depending upon how many children happen to be at the Mass.  We are very grateful to this year's volunteers: Bobette Kirmer, Natalie Bieberle, Laura Miller, Janae Ryan, Courtney Robl, and Bobby Cuffe.

In these pictures, Bobette took the students outside to create chalk drawings.
