St. Joseph Ellinwood

Grandfriends' Day November 1st

1 NOVEMBER 2024

Each year Saint Joseph School hosts its grandfriends for a visit. Grandfriends are members of the community, not related to the students, whom become their special friend for the year.  Lately, we been having the get together on November 1st, the Solemnity of All the Saints.  The day begins with Mass.  In addition to focusing upon our relationships with the saints, it also includes the installation of this year's new altar servers.  More on that to come.

Then the students and their guest repair to the parish hall for cookies and bingo.  Before that, this year offered a new opportunity: "A Living Saints Tableau."  Seventh and Eighth grade students who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the spring, portrayed saints, telling small groups of visitors who they were and the role they have played in the history of the Church.  The project was organized by Doctor Catherine Strecker.  Mrs. Jennifer Klepper helped tremendously in outfitting the students in their saintly vesture.

The album below contains pictures of the bingo and the saints.
