The priests of the diocese were in Wichita for two days, this past week, for their Fall Convocation.  This year they were joined by members of the bishop's curia, the staff at the chancery in Dodge City. 

The topic of the convocation was "Scripture & EvangIlization."  It was presented by Doctor MaRy Healy, a professor of Sacred Scripture at Sacred Heart Seminary in  Detroit.  She is a bestselling author and international speaker. Doctor Healy is a general editor of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture and author of two of its volumes, The Gospel of Mark and Hebrews. Her other books include The Spiritual Gifts Handbook and Healing. Dr. Healy serves the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian unity as a member of the Pentecostal-Catholic International Dialogue. She is one of the first three women ever to serve on the Pontifical Biblical Commission and is a consultor to the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

 

Here is a picture of the priests with the bishop and his curia.  The new face, which some of you might recognize, belongs to Father Ben Greene, the new pastor of Saint Nicholas in Kinsley.  He is formerly the chaplain at Via Christi hospital in Wichita.  A priest of the Diocese of Wichita, he is doing missionary work in our diocese.  (Hint: he looks like Jesus).
