On Saturday, December 14, 2019, St. Joseph Parishioners and Catholic School families came together to spread Christmas cheer to the town of Ellinwood. Organized by the St. Joseph Social Committee, participants gathered in the parish center after the 5 pm mass and split into two caroling groups. Approximately fifty people split between two flatbed trailers and set off in opposing directions to sing a collection of traditional Christmas Carols. The cold weather, and a few cold shoulders, couldn’t deter the wassailers as they focused on parishioners who couldn’t join in the merriment.
After singing their hearts out, the weary revelers returned to the parish center for a taco salad dinner and fellowship. Laugher was plentiful and the evening was judged a success by all who attended and the lucky Ellinwood residents who received the gift of Christmas music. Special thanks Amy Oelke, Dustin Jahay, and Jason Schlochtermeier.
