On September 8, 2019, the Ellinwood Knights of Columbus Council 1187 honored a number of its members during the annual Awards Celebration. The evening was an opportunity for fellowship and recognition of the acts of service so generously given by the members of Council 1187 and their families. 

The current Grand Knight John Clayton recognized Paul Kaiser for fifty years as a Knight and awarded him with an honorary membership.   

The Jason Schlochtermeier family was named family of the year, and Mel Waite was named the Knight of the Year. 

Clayton also recognized the former Grand Knight Mel Waite for his two years of service in that role.
